The Announcement

Today marks a huge moment in the life of Receptive. We are very proud to announce that Receptive is now a part of Pendo.

We are bringing these two companies together to offer the most complete and integrated platform of tools that product-led organizations need to make better product decisions, communicate product direction, and deliver better product experiences.

You can read the press release here, and I highly recommend checking out Pendo’s point of view—here’s a great post and video series from Pendo CEO and co-founder Todd Olson.

The Beginning

I started Receptive in 2015 with my co-founder, Dan Dukeson. We’d both worked in software companies for a long time and founded other businesses together too. Through everything we did, there was a question that was never easy to answer - what should we be working on next?

It sounds so simple but the truth is that software organizations are wasting billions of dollars every year working on product improvements and new features that don’t align with company strategy or improve the customer experience.

This isn’t anyone’s fault—it’s a tough challenge. No product team can make good decisions without data. And product feedback is often poor quality, out-of-date and spread across the organization in spreadsheets, support tools and lists on desks.

Receptive set out to solve this with a bold vision: we want every organization to be able to make data-informed decisions, delight customers and ultimately create a stronger and better business by understanding the needs of their customers, teams and the market.

We believe in a future where product feedback and analytics is the lifeblood of every business; feeding into product team decisions, giving customer-facing teams information to offer exceptional service, bringing the voice of the customer to the table, and enabling organizations to know they are utilizing their resources on the things that matter most.

The Why

Over the years, we’ve worked closely with some incredible customers who have helped guide Receptive into the product it is today. We’ve solved a lot of problems, but there is still a lot to be done.

Pendo’s vision and product are, and always have been, the “other half” of Receptive.

Even in the early discussions between Dan and I, we always talked about product analytics and how powerful it would be to have a solution that could bridge the gap between what people need, what you build and how the software is actually used. Becoming part of Pendo allows us to realize this and bring a new, ground-breaking product to market.

It’s a game-changer.

Besides Pendo’s exceptional product, the reason we chose to join the company was the people. Once we started meeting more of the team, we realised just how special the company really is.

Across every department we have met inspiring, driven people who are working hard to change how software is built and experienced. Spending a week in the head office in Raleigh was genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

The Future

So what’s next for Receptive? We will remain the same team, but as part of Pendo. Over the summer we’re going to be creating some really exciting, initial integrations between the two products.

Our first big release will be at Pendomonium, Pendo’s annual product conference, in Raleigh September 9-11; you can get tickets right here.

Finally, I would just like to say thank you again for all the support we have received over the years— especially from our customers. Genuinely, thank you. We very much look forward to creating something incredibly special with you.
